The fabric library

Real Palpali dhaka, and good wool.

Hand-loomed dhaka from Palpa and Tehrathum, fine cotton and khadi, linen for summer, and Italian-style wool for suits. Every fabric is priced per metre, and the order page works out how much you need.

Measure at home

Abroad, or just busy?

Our measuring guide shows exactly where the tape goes, with a diagram that follows you field by field. Send your numbers with the order and we cut from them. Many of our customers order from Doha, Sydney and Dallas for weddings back home.

Since 1979

Three generations, one lane.

Hari Kaji's father opened Kainchi (scissors) in a room off Ason Tole with one Singer machine. The machines got faster, the fabrics more varied, but the rule stayed: measure twice, cut once, and never let a customer leave in something that doesn't fit.
